Caribbean champions Mount Pleasant are poised to learn their path in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup when the official draw takes place this evening in Miami, marking the start of the region’s premier club competition.
Head coach Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore will represent the St Ann-based club at the ceremony, which brings together some of the strongest teams across North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The 27-team field features several regional heavyweights, including Mexican giants Club América and CF Monterrey, reigning Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul, and newly crowned MLS Cup champions Inter Miami CF led by global superstar Lionel Messi. Also in the mix are MLS newcomers San Diego FC, Costa Rican powerhouse LD Alajuelense and Honduran titans Club Olimpia Deportivo.
Mount Pleasant are one of five clubs to receive a bye to the Round of 16, joining LD Alajuelense, Seattle Sounders FC, Deportivo Toluca FC and Inter Miami. The remaining 22 teams will contest Round One, which kicks off in early February.
Pre-seeding for the Round of 16 was determined by the Concacaf Club Rankings, with Mount Pleasant entering as the fifth-highest ranked team. They have been placed in the second Round of 16 match-up on the bracket.
Tonight’s draw will begin by confirming the bracket positions for the eight pre-seeded teams — three slotted into Round One and the five direct qualifiers into the Round of 16 — setting the stage for the chase to be crowned the next Concacaf club champion.
