The Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) has indicated that charges laid against an employee following investigations into alleged financial irregularities reflect the effectiveness of internal governance and oversight systems.
The Financial Investigations Division (FID) reported that customer service officer at CMU, Kevan Anthony Panton, is facing multiple charges, including embezzlement, falsification of accounts and conspiracy to defraud.
CMU President Professor Andrew Spencer noted that through the school’s internal monitoring processes, issues relating to student funds were identified, and the matter was referred to the FID.
