It’s safe to say former US President, Barack Obama, is a fan of Reggae music and specifically music by Toots and The Maytals.
The late Reggae great is again featured on the 44th President of the United States summer music playlist for 2023.
The playlist that covers 21 songs from a few genres, including Reggae, features Toots and The Maytals’ 1973 Ska hit,”Funky Kingston”.
In 2019, Toots and The Maytals 1968 mega-hit, “54-46, was featured on the former US President’s summer playlist.
Other entertainers on Obama’s 2023 summer playlist that was shared via social media, include Burna Boy and Rapper 21 Savage’s ‘Sittin On Top of the World’, Jorja Smith’s ‘Try Me’, and Janet Jackson’s ‘Got Til It’s Gone’ among others.
Over the years, Barack and Michelle Obama have regularly shared the music they are listening to and Reggae and Dancehall are always in the midst.
