The playlist released in tandem with a summer reading list, is a mixture of old classics and new hits.

Bob Marley and the Wailers’ 1974 hit, Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) from the album Natty Dread is among the hits of yesteryear featured on the former president’s 2024 publication.

Meanwhile, on the heels of earning his first gold certification for Jump, a collaboration with South African singer Tyla and American rapper Gunna, EastSyde DJ, Skillibeng earned a coveted spot on the playlist for the collaboration released earlier this year.


Other entertainers on Obama’s 2024 summer playlist that was shared via social media include, Rema, Willow, GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyonce, Etta Jones, Common, The Supremes and Norah Jones. 

Over the years, Barack Obama has regularly shared the music that he’s listening to, and reggae and dancehall are always in the mix.  Koffee, Toots and the Maytals, Damian Marley, Spice, Sean Paul and Shaggy are among the Jamaican artistes who have been featured on previous summer playlists published by the former president.
