The police confirmed that an individual is being questioned in relation to the killing of the 18-year-old.

Meantime, lawmen have released the identity of the student.

She is Jada Pollard of Smokeyvale, St. Andrew.

According to police reports, an armed man broke into her home on Belle Acres in Smokeyvale, St. Andrew, around 1:40 A.M. and allegedly robbed one of Jada’s relatives.

Police say Jada heard the screams and went to investigate when the gunman opened fire, hitting her.

She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Meantime, Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said the ministry dispatched a trauma support team to The Queen’s School to provide counselling and psychosocial support to the grieving school community.

Dr. Morris Dixon has expressed profound sadness and shock at the tragic murder.
