Suspect in disappearance of University student Anisa Dilworth remanded until June 30

The man suspected of being involved in the disappearance of University of Technology student Anisa Dilworth was remanded until June 30, when he appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

This is to allow the Jamaica Constabulary Force to further its investigation into the matter.

The suspect has been in custody since May 11, days after Dilworth went missing on May 6.

On May 17, skeletal remains, which police believe to be those of the missing student, were found along a beach in St. Catherine.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, the suspect’s attorney, Davion Vassell, said on June 2, a judge ruled that his client be charged or released by yesterday following the submission of a habeas corpus application.

However, Mr. Vassell noted that during yesterday’s court session, he was informed that the police had charged his client with breaches of the Cybercrimes Act, after he reportedly failed to give up access to his cellular phones.

Mr. Vassell said he learned that the police made an application for a production order for device access.
