A suspect has been taken into police custody in relation to the death of a teen girl in Prospect St. Thomas.

The girl’s identity has not been released.

Reports are that the child’s father, who is a member of the Constabulary Force, tried to contact her by phone and when he did not get through, he went home to check on her and found her in a pool of blood.

The girl was later pronounced dead at hospital.

An operation was launched for the alleged attacker.

When asked by IRIE FM News, the police stated that a fatal shooting incident that took place, also in Prospect today, is a separate matter.

The identity of the man who was fatally shot has not yet been ascertained.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) said its team is in the area now.
