Supreme Court grants permission for PM Holness to go to the Judicial Review Court to get orders to quash IC report on his statutory declaration
The Supreme Court has granted permission for Prime Minister Andrew Holness to go to the Judicial Review Court to get orders to quash an Integrity Commission report on his statutory declarations.
The Prime Minister is seeking, among other things, to have the Commission’s report ruled unlawful and unfair.
Justice Althea Jarrett heard submissions last month and gave her ruling today.
Mr. Holness had applied to the Supreme Court on September 30 for administrative orders including judicial review.
The court battle stemmed from the Commission’s report on his statutory declaration, which was tabled in Parliament.
The Integrity Commission’s Director of Investigation, Kevon Stephenson, had said in the report that he could not conclude on the question of illicit enrichment.
Stephenson referred to unexplained financial discrepancies in Holness’ 2021 income tax filings.
Mr. Holness has denied any wrongdoing and is contending that the report is flawed.
