Two-time defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds, who include the Sunshine Girls trio Latanya Wilson, Shamera Sterling-Humphrey and Romelda Aiken-George, will begin their quest for an historic three-peat by facing the Melbourne Vixens.
The match-up was unveiled today (Tuesday, November 12) and is a repeat of last season’s Suncorp Super Netball League Grand Final. It’s slated to take place at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday, April 5.
The other games on opening day features goal-shooter Shimona Jok suiting up for Melbourne Mavericks who open their sophomore campaign against Sunshine Coast Lightning at John Cain Arena and defender Jodi-Ann Ward taking center-court for GIANTS Netball against Queensland Firebirds at Ken Rosewall Arena.
First round action concludes the following day, Sunday, April 6 with Shanice Beckford, Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and Kadie-Ann Dehaney lining up for West Coast Fever who entertain NSW Swifts at RAC Arena in Perth.
The first match-up of teams with Jamaicans on the roster takes place in Round 2 where Jodi-Ann Ward and the GIANTS Netball team play away to a Melbourne Mavericks outfit that includes Shimona Jok on April 19.
The first meeting between the Thunderbirds and Fever, that involves six Jamaicans, will be the opening game of Round 6 on May 17.
A split round will feature in Round 3, with the Melbourne Mavericks to host GIANTS Netball and the Thunderbirds to host the NSW Swifts on Easter Sunday.
The Suncorp Super Netball League will again celebrate and recognise First Nations Round peoples and cultures across National Reconciliation Week (Round 7) and NAIDOC Week (Round 13).
The 14 round season which will be played on a home and away basis, ends on Sunday July 13 and will be followed by the playoffs which begins the following week.
