Sunshine Girls Set to Face South Africa in Crucial Game 2 of the Margaret Beckford Sunshine Netball Series
The stage is set for an exciting evening of netball as Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls prepare to take on South Africa’s SPAR Proteas in Game 2 of the Margaret Beckford Sunshine Netball Series at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
Jamaica leads the series 1-0 after a 55-47 win in the opening game, with Melbourne Mavericks shooter Shimona Nelson-Jok delivering an outstanding performance. Nelson-Jok netted 38 goals from 39 attempts, earning her the Player of the Match award and helping Jamaica secure the victory. With a 1-0 series lead, the Sunshine Girls are now looking to clinch the series with a second win and take an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Before the senior match tips off, the action will begin with the second game in the three-match series between Jamaica’s Under-21 netball team and their South African counterparts, the SPAR Baby Proteas. The visitors took the first game on Saturday in dominant fashion, winning 61-31.
Victory for the young Sunshine Girls will level the series at 1-1 while defeat would see their South African rivals taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead.
