Sunshine Girls secure automatic invitation to 2027 Netball World Cup
Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls have officially secured their place among the elite field for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, after being confirmed as one of the six highest-ranked nations invited to compete.
The confirmation follows the latest release of the World Netball Rankings, where Jamaica maintained their position as the No. 3 team in the world. The ranking update, which reflects results from matches played up to December 1, 2025, showed only one change inside the top six.
The Sunshine Girls, holding firm on 192 rating points, trail only tournament hosts Australia — who top the global list with 204 points — and defending champions New Zealand on 199 points. England and South Africa complete the top five.
Uganda climbed above Wales to claim the critical No. 6 spot, securing the final automatic invitation for Sydney 2027. Malawi, Tonga and Scotland round out the top ten.
The remaining 10 spots for the 2027 World Cup will be filled through five regional qualifying tournaments scheduled for 2026. The top two finishers from each qualifier will earn their ticket to the global showpiece, set for August 25 to September 5 in Sydney.
