Steer Town PTA supports principal in light of allegations of breaches in 2022 CSEC exams
The Parent-Teacher Association of the Steer Town Academy in St. Ann has thrown its support behind principal Omar Mongal, amid claims that he may be sent on leave, following allegations of breaches, in last year’s sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, CSEC, examinations.
It’s alleged that last year, the school breached guidelines during the CSEC examinations.
The claim was denied by the principal.
Reports have emerged, that an investigation is to be launched into the allegations and that Mr. Mongal is expected to be placed on leave.
Speaking to Irie Fm News, president of the school’s Parent-Teachers Association, Maxine Green Butler, said she is unaware of Mr. Mongal being expected to go on leave.
She said when some p-t-a members learnt of the reports in a PTA meeting on Thursday, they voiced their support for the principal.
She said Thursday’s PTA meeting was not in response to the reports, but was simply a regular meeting before the resumption of the new school term.
