Steel Pulse claims disrespect at Summer Jam
Musician David Elecciri better known as David Electric of Steel Pulse, in a comment on social media, is claiming that his band was disrespected by the security and crew of Afrobeats singer, Burna Boy at the 37th staging of Summer Jam Festival in Cologne, Germany.
In his lengthy comment, made beneath a post about the festival, the guitarist tagged his band, Burna Boy, and the official page of Summer Jam Festival, writing that Steel Pulse was fully disrespected by Burna Boy’s security team and crew who tried to kick them out of their dressing room so that they could have four dressing rooms for the African singer’s massive entourage.
The musician wrote that Selwyn Brown, original band member was livid and that the team stood their ground but was dismayed at the treatment to a band that has paved the way for Reggae music.
He further berated organizers of the Summer Jam Festival and sought an explanation on why his band was bullied by the African singer’s security team and further questioned why they proceeded to erect a barricade when his band refused to leave. This he wrote resulted in a split between the dressing rooms which caused them to feel like prisoners.
The guitarist’s comment ended with a warning to Reggae festival organizers, stating that the behaviour displayed by Burna Boy’s entourage can’t be a part of Reggae’s culture adding the genre promotes peace, love and unity.
Neither Summer Jam nor Burna Boy has responded to the allegations.
Summer Jam 2024 ran from July five to seven and headlined Burna Boy. The event also featured top Jamaican acts such as Skillibeng, Konshens, Busy Signal, Lila Ike, Beenieman and Ky-Mani Marley among others.
