State Minister of Tourism calls for more people to learn Spanish amid increase in Latin American visitors to Jamaica

With an increase in visitors from Latin America, the Tourism Ministry has intensified its appeal for more Jamaicans to learn Spanish to better engage with them.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, State Minister of Tourism, Delano Seiveright, says the existing language barrier often results in missed opportunities for English-speaking locals.

Mr. Seiveright explains that Jamaica is at a pivotal moment in its tourism story, and therefore, all efforts must be made to ensure the country remains the destination of choice while capitalizing on the sector’s continuing growth.

He is urging Jamaicans, especially young people, entrepreneurs and tourism workers to learn at least conversational Spanish.
