Stakeholders report relatively smooth start to the new academic year
There was a relatively smooth start to the 2022/2023 academic year.
For the most part, students turned out for orientation activities, with full resumption of classes expected by next week.
In some cases, back to school activities were disrupted by protests by taxi operators in sections of St. Thomas and St. Catherine.
Students at Sheffield Primary in Westmoreland had grief counselling and parents at a St. Ann Primary school also protested this morning (September 5).
Meantime over in Clarendon, the Vere Technical High School says there was a smooth start, but there are challenges, relating to classroom space and more teachers are needed.
Vice Principal at Vere Technical High School Karren Charlton Boothe spoke with Irie Fm News.
