St. Thomas police say charges expected to be laid soon in relation to stabbing death of Seaforth High student yesterday

The St. Thomas police say charges are expected to be laid soon in relation to the stabbing death of a Seaforth High student in Morant Bay yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Kayland Doyle of bath St. Thomas.

Lawmen said the incident occurred at the transport centre and stemmed from an altercation which started at school.

Reports are that the accused used a sharp object to inflict a wound to the other student.

The wounded pupil was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Speaking with iRIE FM News this morning, Acting Head of the St Thomas police superintendent Rohan Ritchie said three boys remain in custody in relation to the incident.

He said he expects that the attacker or attackers will be charged soon.

In the meantime, the Seaforth High school has been plunged into mourning following the stabbing death of one of its students.

IRIE FM News understands that personnel from the Education Ministry visited the school this morning to offer counselling and support to the school community.
