St. Thomas firmly on path to fulfilling true vision of prosperous, growing, fair, equitable society – PM speaks at Morant Bay Urban Centre’s ribbon-cutting

“St. Thomas is firmly on the path for the fulfilment of its true vision of a prosperous, growing, fair and equitable society.”

That’s the declaration from Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Morant Bay Urban Centre today.

The Centre will house public and private sector entities, providing a variety of services in what has been described as a one-stop shop.

It has also been dubbed the single most sophisticated and expansive development in the parish.

Prime Minister Holness said today marks the end of a period of underinvestment.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Factories Corporation of Jamaica, Lyttleton Shirley, explained that the Urban Centre, once home to the old Goodyear factory, promises ease of access to government services, commercial offerings, job creation and economic stimulation.

It is situated on approximately 436,000 square feet of land.

In the meantime, Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie charged the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation to improve its standard of service in the parish when it takes up space at the Centre.
