St. Mary police monitoring Baileys Vale as residents remain upset about poor road conditions, despite meeting
Police in St. Mary are monitoring Baileys Vale following a meeting with residents and stakeholders, yesterday (October 20), about poor road conditions in the community.
It’s reported that the meeting did not end well, with residents preventing some political representatives and members of the National Works Agency, from leaving the venue by using debris to block them in.
Police had to be called in to clear the roadway which was allegedly blocked for around 30 minutes.
The meeting followed protests earlier this week by the residents, who called for the immediate repair of roads in the area.
Head of Operations for the St. Mary police, Deputy Superintendent Romeo Henry said the police are on high alert, as disgruntled residents have expressed plans to continue their protest.
And, Member of Parliament for St. Mary Central, Dr. Morais Guy who attended yesterday’s (October 20) meeting told Irie Fm News that residents blocked the roadways, because they felt they were disrespected in the meeting.
