St. James food service establishments to be checked during special police operation this week
Food service establishments in St. James are being urged to ensure that they are meeting food safety requirements, as these establishments will be the focus of targeted operations, this week.
The safety checks form part of the St. James Police Division’s, Operation Restore Paradise Public Order Reset Initiative.
Head of Operations, Superintendent Eron Samuels said Health Ministry representatives will be assisting the police in the monitoring and enforcement of food safety standards.
The special operation which began on Monday (August 15), will run for 2 weeks.
Superintendent Samuels said so far, the initiative has been bearing fruit.
Yesterday (August 16), it resulted in traffic clear up, disconnection of illegal attachments to National Water Commission pipelines, as well as some arrests for minor offences.
