St. Elizabeth residents stage protest demanding restoration of electricity to their communities

There were more protests today as residents in sections of St. Elizabeth mounted road blocks demanding the restoration of electricity and water to their communities.

Frustrated residents of George’s Valley blocked the main road stating that 26 days have passed since the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Irie FM News learnt that residents of neighbouring communities also protested later in the day.

The placard bearing residents in George’s Valley used trees and other debris to block the main road.

One of the residents told Irie FM News that only one light post was destroyed during the passage of Beryl.

She added that electricity is needed to facilitate the pumping of water.

Meantime, PNP caretaker for North East St. Elizabeth Zuleika Jess says it’s a tough time for residents.

She also indicated that the small businesses operated by the residents are being affected.
