St. Elizabeth police investigating major ammunition find in Santa Cruz; 40 rounds recovered in Hanover
The St. Elizabeth police are investigating a major ammunition find during an operation in Santa Cruz on Friday morning.
Head of the division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, says the more than 800 rounds of ammunition were recovered in the Grosmond community at about 10 AM.
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Superintendent Minto says the implications of the seizure are concerning.
He says the seizure brings the number of rounds seized in the parish since the start of this year to 1,263.
This compared to the 165 rounds seized in the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, three people were arrested following the seizure of 40 assorted rounds of ammunition during an operation in Johnson Town, Lucea, Hanover, today.
The operation was carried out between 10:30 AM and 1:15 PM.
In addition to the 40 assorted rounds, police also recovered three 9MM magazines and one revolver handle.
The identities of those arrested are being withheld pending further investigations.
