St. Catherine South Police warn those caught vandalising JUTC buses will face full brunt of the law

Amidst reports of persons vandalizing government-owned buses, the St. Catherine South Police are warning that those caught in the act will face the full brunt of the law.

Between July 16 and 18, several buses owned by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) were damaged following stone throwing incidents in the Corporate Area.

The situation resulted in the JUTC, discontinuing its service along several routes, briefly.

It also prompted the launch of a joint police-JUTC coordinated response, to reduce the stone throwing incidents and apprehend perpetrators.

Addressing the matter during a Virtual Townhall meeting yesterday, Area 5 Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Christopher Phillips, said St. Catherine South is also facing this problem.

He called on citizens to help in identifying persons who are involved in these incidents.
