St Catherine South Police increase presence in Portmore and Old Harbour following two murders at the weekend
The St. Catherine South Police have increased their presence in Portmore and Old Harbour following two separate murders at the weekend.
In the most recent incident at about 2:45 PM on Saturday, 21-year-old Tyrone Roberts, otherwise called “gungu” was shot and killed on Panton Street in Old Harbour.
About an hour earlier, 27-year-old Kiwane Johnson was also shot and killed by gunmen in Gregory Park.
Speaking to IRIE FM news, Head of Operations for the St Catherine South Division Deputy Superintendent Michael Campbell said more officers have been deployed to the communities.
He said while it is still early days, they have identified some persons of interest in relation to the killing of Johnson.
According to the Constabulary, St Catherine South recorded 29 murders as at Saturday April 13.
This is three more than the corresponding period last year.
