St. Catherine North police report reduction in murders, rapes and robberies
The St. Catherine North Police are reporting a reduction in murders, rapes and robberies.
Head of the Division, Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, says as at Tuesday October 8 there was a 26 per cent decline in murders and rapes, compared to the corresponding period, last year.
He says robberies decreased by 56 per cent.
He notes however, that there was a slight increase in shootings and break-ins.
The police are theorizing that migrant criminals may be responsible for some of the crimes in the division.
Superintendent Nicholson says efforts will be ramped up to rid St. Catherine North of these criminals.
He was speaking at the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation’s Monthly Meeting, yesterday.
