St. Ann woman one of 2 people charged for allegedly bringing large sums of cash into the island 

A St. Ann woman is one of two persons set to face the court on Thursday following the seizure of 70 thousand US dollars at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, last Tuesday.

She is 34-year-old Randy-Kay Blair, a cosmologist of Harrison Town, in St. Ann.

The other person has been identified as 44-year-old Deno Baker, a mason of Bodles Crescent, in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.

Blair and Baker have been charged with Possession of criminal property, Cross-border movement of funds, Bringing criminal property into Jamaica and Concealing criminal property.

Reports are that at about 5:40 p.m, Baker and Blair arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport on a flight from Turks and Caicos. 

During security procedures anomalies were observed in their luggage. 

A thorough search was conducted, and over US$39,000 was allegedly found  in Baker’s luggage, while over $US30,000 dollars was reportedly found in Blair’s bags. 

The police say the cash was concealed within jars containing hair products.

Baker and Blair were subsequently taken into custody. 

Following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys, they were charged on Friday.

They are scheduled to appear before Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Thursday March 21.
