St Ann wins overall best performance prize at Jamaica Library Service National Reading Competition
The St. Ann parish library network copped the overall best performance prize at this year’s Jamaica Library Service National Reading Competition.
This is based on the results of the quiz finals and written tests.
It’s the combination of the final scores of all parish champions in each age group category.
The network was presented with a trophy and several gallons of paint towards beautification of the library property.
As for the parish champions, 2 are runners up and one was declared national champion.
The runners up were for the adult categories: D’jeane Walters in the 15 to 20 year group and Ntini Edwards in the 21 and over year group.
Walters also got a sectional prize for best book review.
The national champion for the junior category is Mia-isabel Walker, in the 6 to 8 year group.
Among their winnings are trophies, cash, computers, books, vouchers, gift baskets and hotel passes.
While delivering the reflection, Edwards noted the significance of the competition in enhancing the transformative power of reading.
