St. Ann police report increase in murders stemming from domestic disputes
The St. Ann police are again appealing to citizens to find other means of resolving domestic disputes.
This as the parish recorded an increase in murders, many of them stemming from domestic violence.
Head of the division Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell said over 20 murders have been committed in the parish so far this year.
This is more than the 16 recorded for the corresponding period last year.
SSP Powell said while the police continue efforts to mitigate domestic situation, it’s the persons involved who need to learn how to control their actions and seek intervention.
As it relates to the other categories of major crimes, St. Ann has seen a slight reduction, compared to last year.
He was giving the police report at the meeting of the St. Ann Municipal Corporation.
