St. Ann police probing double murder, among murders at the weekend

Two men were shot dead and another wounded in Grove Village, Parry Town, St. Ann last night.

The deceased have been identified as 56-year-old Painter Paul Brooks, otherwise called ‘Mattheron’, and 30-year-old Warehouse Assistant Lamar Lynch, otherwise called ‘Buju’, both residents of Grove Village, Parry Town.

According to reports from the Ocho Rios police the incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when the three men were standing at a shop in the community.

Residents reported hearing several loud explosions and upon making checks, found the men on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three victims were rushed to hospital, where Brooks and Lynch were pronounced dead.

The third man whose identity has not been released, remains hospitalized.

This incident came just hours after another murder in the parish.

53-year-old Gerald Small, a popular Jerk Pork Vendor was shot and killed along Main Street in Ocho Rios the previous night, Friday July 4.

According to police Small was conducting business when he was approached by armed men and shot multiple times.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The recent incidents have pushed the murder count in St. Ann to nearly 30 since the start of the year.
