Arrangements are being made for officers at the Runaway Bay police station in St Ann to get grief counselling, after one of their colleagues was found dead in his car in Ocho Rios last evening (January 6).

The deceased cop has been identified as Sergeant Lloyd Kelly.

Reports are that at about 8:40 pm, Kelly was found unresponsive in his BMW motor car along the Exchange District main road.

The vehicle’s hazard lights were reportedly still on.

Sergeant Lloyd Kelly was taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Operations Officer for the St Ann police division, Deputy Superintendent, Kevin Francis described Sergeant Kelly as a hard-working cop who excelled at any task undertaken.

Noting that colleagues are devastated by the Sergeant’s passing, DSP Francis says steps are being taken to provide the necessary psycho-social support.
