Police have charged the St. Ann father who was arrested for the murder of his son and stepson in Moneague in the parish last Tuesday.

23-year-old Alain Saunders, a labourer of Swamp District in Moneague has been charged with two counts of murder.

He is to face the court for the death of 1-year-old Amir Saunders and his brother 3-year-old Shamir Henry, both of Swamp District.

It has been theorised that the father was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident having reportedly had ganja tea.

The incident, which occurred at the home of the father, also left the children’s mother nursing wounds.

According to reports, Amir’s mother came to visit him and brought along Shamir when the tragedy unfolded.

While providing an update to IRIE FM News, Head of the St. Ann police, Deputy Superintendent Rohan Elliot said the father was questioned in the presence of his lawyer and charged yesterday.

His court date is being finalized.
