The St. Andrew North police continue to face a challenge with motor vehicle theft, with more than 160 vehicles stolen in the division last year.

This was revealed by head of the division, Acting Superintendent Randy Sweeney, at a town hall meeting on Sunday afternoon.

Sweeney noted that over 400 major crimes were recorded in St. Andrew North in 2024.

The divisional commander said vehicle theft was at its highest in September with 19 vehicles stolen that month.

Efforts by the police led to a decline in the latter part of the year.

He urged citizens to practice target hardening to ensure they do not become victims of motor vehicle theft.
