St. Andrew Central Police report increase in gang related crimes
The St. Andrew Central Police are reporting an increase in the number of gang related crimes.
Speaking with Irie FM News, Commanding Officer for the Division, Senior Superintendent, SSP Marlon Nesbeth said some of the areas seeing such an increase include Waltham Park, Woodford Park and Swallowfield.
He pointed to Sunday’s quadruple shooting, in Waltham, which left four men hospitalized, after they were attacked by armed men on a playing field.
Police believe that the incident stemmed from a gang-related reprisal.
SSP Nesbeth said his team is following several leads into gang related crimes in the division.
SSP Nesbeth also noted that many of the criminal activities are a result of domestic disputes.
