Spragga Benz remembers son Carlyle, 17 years after his passing

Multifaceted entertainer Spragga Benz is remembering his son Carlton Kymani Grant, more popularly known as Carlyle, on what would have been his 34th birthday today May 2.

In a social media post the dancehall legend, shared a photo of the Junior Grant’s headstone with the caption, ‘Leave all vengeance’ adding a ‘constant reminder to self’.

The post has garnered support from fans and industry players alike.  Gramps Morgan wrote that he was sending love to the DJ whom he refers to as family. Entertainers I-Octane and Tanto Metro also joined the DJ’s fans in leaving words of strength and encouragement accompanied by praying hands and dove emojis in the comments; with the general wish for Spragga to heal and Carlyle to continue resting in peace.

On August 23, 2008, Spragga Benz suffered a parent’s nightmare, when his 17-year-old son, Carlton Grant was fatally shot, allegedly by police in downtown Kingston.

Subsequently, in June 2011, a 12-member jury was directed to return a formal verdict of not guilty, freeing the two policemen charged with Carlyle’s murder, after a Supreme Court judge upheld a no-case submissions from defence lawyers.
