Specialized police teams are actively responding to several bomb threats across the island this morning.

The Jamaica Constabulary says the necessary security protocols are being enforced to protect staff the public and critical services.

IRIE FM News understands that the bomb threats were made against several public institutions today.

The constabulary says it has taken note of reports of the bomb threats.

It says while investigations are ongoing to determine their authenticity, its reminding the public that such threats are not only reckless and disruptive but also criminal.

The police are strongly warning any individual or group contemplating these activities to desist immediately.

The JCF says it will pursue every lead to ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable under the law.

The police say although all threats received so far have proven to be unfounded, the JCF continues to treat each report with the utmost seriousness.

The police are urging all institutions and members of the public to remain vigilant, exercise caution, and promptly report any suspicious activity or information by calling 119.

And fire brigade personnel have been deployed to 16 locations across several parishes in response to bomb threats.

Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade Stewart Beckford says there are three other locations on hold.

The parishes affected by the bomb threats are Kingston, Portland, St. James, St. Ann and Manchester.

IRIE FM News spoke to Commissioner Beckford a short while ago he said no bomb has been found so far.
