Spanish Town schools continue with online classes, despite clearance to resume face to face sessions
Schools based in Spanish Town, St. Catherine continued classes online today, although the Education Ministry gave clearance for schools to resume face-to-face classes.
The Ministry indicates that a check of schools showed that public schools in Spanish Town did not re-open.
The Ministry indicated late yesterday that face-to-face classes could resume following extensive consultations with the security forces and the plans by the security forces to maintain a presence in the town.
At the same time, the Ministry urged school administrators in the area to carefully review their individual security situations and make decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Principals are encouraged to maintain close communication with local law enforcement personnel and parents, to assess and address any lingering concerns.
The Ministry says it will continue to collaborate with the security forces to monitor the situation closely and respond swiftly to any development.
It adds that the safety and security of students and school personnel remain the highest priority.
