A sombre mood hangs over the Breadnut Hill Primary School in St. Ann as students and staff mourn the death of a seven-year-old student, and two of her siblings, in a tragic fire in Walkerswood.

Seven-year-old Tashawna Mattis and her siblings, two-year-old Tavaughno and four-year-old Tashawnie died in the blaze at around 2 AM yesterday.

The children’s grandmother and their 5-year-old brother escaped unharmed.

Government officials are at the Breadnut Hill Primary School providing support to the students and teachers.

Speaking to IRIE FM News Principal of the institution Sharon Minott noted that the school has been plunged into sadness.

She said Tashawna was very quiet, loving and friendly.

She said the staff is trying to help Tashawna’s classmates to process the situation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
