Soldier shot and killed by unknown assailant last night in Kingston

A member of the Jamaica Defence Force was shot and killed by an unknown assailant last night along Eve Lane in Kingston.
He has been identified as 37-year-old Andre Thompson of 4 Royal Avenue, Independence City, St. Catherine.
The incident occurred at about 10:47 last night.
Police say citizens reported hearing explosions and on their arrival they saw a silver Toyota Axio with the four doors opened.
Thompson was seen face down on the ground near the vehicle, with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.
The JDF’s Chaplaincy and Welfare Department is providing counselling and support services to the soldier’s family.
Investigations continue.
