Slight decrease in consumer confidence reported for 2024 third quarter

Consumer confidence in the economy fell slightly for the third quarter of 2024 with concerns about several issues including inflation, crime and job availability.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Market Research Services Limited, Don Anderson in releasing the latest survey results today, said compared to the last two quarters, consumer confidence fell by just under 2 percentage  points.

More than 600 persons were interviewed on several issues including intention to spend, expected jobs, expectation for their income to increase and business conditions.

Mr. Anderson said 24 percent of persons expect that business conditions will get better.

However, more persons felt they would get worse.

They had a number of reasons for this perspective.

Mr. Anderson said consumers are not overly optimistic.
