Residents of St. James, Trelawny, Westmoreland and Hanover are set to benefit from six state-of-the-art digital x-ray units in key hospitals in the region.
The units are valued at $340 million.
In a statement, the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) said the Cornwall Regional and Falmouth hospitals will each receive two units, while the Savanna-la-mar and Noel Holmes hospitals will each receive one unit.
The authority said the units will provide faster, more accurate imaging, enabling health care professionals to make timely and precise diagnoses.
The installation process is already underway and is expected to be completed within a few months.
