Situation in Spanish Town under control, but area remains tense following fatal shooting of alleged gang leader- JCF
The Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF says while sections of Spanish Town in St. Catherine remain tense following a series of events in the past 24 hours, the situation is under control.
Unrest broke out in the area, following the fatal shooting of an alleged leader of the One Order Gang.
Dead is Othneil Lobban otherwise called “Thick Man”.
Lobban was fatally shot by police at about 10:00 pm in Six Miles, St. Andrew yesterday.
He was reportedly listed by the police as one of the top 5 most wanted individuals.
It’s reported that Spanish Town residents, upset about his killing, used debris to block several roadways in the area.
Speaking to Irie FM News this morning, Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Network Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said the security forces have maintained a strong presence in the area and order is being restored to the space.
She said despite threats to the police, lawmen are still on the ground to ensure that citizens are safe.
In the same breath, she urged citizens to proceed with a level of caution.
