Shimona Nelson- Jok elevated to active roster of Mavericks in the Suncorp Super Netball League
Sunshine girl Shimona Nelson- Jok has been elevated from her training partner role to the active roster of the Melbourne Mavericks in the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.
This promotion for Nelson – JOK the former Collingwood Magpie shooter comes as the Mavericks face the loss of Sasha Glasgow, who has been sidelined for the season due to a fractured leg.
The decision to bring the Jamaican into the 11th player position, is widely viewed as tactical and also reflects the team’s confidence in her abilities.
Meanwhile, in the latest round of action, the mavericks suffered a 68-61 loss to former winners Melbourne Vixens, a new look Sunshine Coast Lightning pulled off a statement performance beating Nsw Swifts 79-63.
five-time league MVP Jhaniele Fowler -Nembhard and her team West Coast Fever lead the standings on 4 points after round one.
The Fever lead with a superior goal difference over second place Lightning, Vixen and Thunderbirds who are all on four points.
Round two will be contested on April 20.
