Former Reggae boy turned professional coach, Shevar Thomas has given newly appointed Reggae Boys head coach Rudolph Spied his stamp of approval, as Jamaica faces a race against time to prepare for a second opportunity to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

Thomas who represented Jamaica at the Under 20 Youth World Cup, is in his 4th year as Assistant Coach at MLS reserve team FC Cincinnati 2 in the US Major League Soccer Next Pro League, where he serves alongside head Coach and former Reggae Boy Tyrone Marshall.

The former defender was a guest on irie Fm Sports call talk-show what’s the score last night where he explained why it was imperative to hand Speid the coaching reins.   

The Reggae Boys with one more opportunity to reach the greatest show on earth next year in USA, Canada and Mexico, will head into an Inter -Confederation playoff next March against New Caledonia in Mexico. 

Victory would the Reggae Boys up against the Democratic Republic of Congo, from which the winner will progress to the 2926 FIFA World Cup.
