Sheryl Lee Ralph’s children design sneaker in tribute to Jamaican grandmother.
Etienne Maurice, son of actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, says he has channelled his grief into creativity, designing a shoe with his sister to honour his late Jamaican grandmother who he affectionately calls Grandy.
The film producer shared a video on social media highlighting the moment he received the first sample of the sneaker which is part of the WalkGood x On collection. As a caption, he wrote in part, that designing the product with his sister was one of the proudest moments of his life. His post also highlighted the moment he revealed the footwear to his mother who beamed with joy upon seeing the sample.
The sneaker, a symbol of roots and culture, comes in earth tones and tropical colours and boasts an image of the Jamaican Flag on the upper heel, with the word Grandy engraved on the inside of the shoe tongue.
Ettiene Maurice shared, that grief was a journey but was also a source of strength and credits his grandmother for influencing the start of his WalkGood organization based in Los Angeles.

Ettiene lost his grandmother, fashion designer, Ivy Ralph OD, in October 2018, she was ninety at the time of her death and was from Chantilly, in Manchester.
