Shericka Jackson headlines 9 Jamaicans to compete in Wanda Diamond league meeting in Xiamen China
National record holder Shericka Jackson, and the two times world champion Danielle Williams headlines a list of 9 Jamaicans down to compete in the second Wanda Diamond league meeting in Xiamen, China tomorrow.
The 2023 world champion Jackson who clocked 22.07 seconds, the joint fifth fastest time in the world this season over the distant in her last outing a week ago in Shanghai, will again race in the women’s 200 meters.
The MVP Track Club sprinter will face the likes of the Olympic sprint relay gold medalist Scha’carri Richardson of the USA, along with 2016 Olympic 400 meters gold medalist Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas.
Williams along with compatriots Megan Simmonds and Ackera Nugent will race in the women’s 100 meters hurdles.
The field also includes the world leader Masai Russell of the USA, who holds a best mark of 12.25 seconds, along with the world record holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, and three-time World Indoor champion Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas.
On the men’s side another Jamaican and World Championship silver medalist Orlando Bennett will run in the men’s 110 hurdles.
In the field the olympic bronze medalist Rajindra Campbell will take on a star studded cast in the men’s shot put event, that features the competitive Ryan Crouser of the USA.
Meanwhile, world Champion Tajay Gayle, and the Olympic silver medalist Wayne Pinnock will hit the board in the men’s long jump, and many times national champion Lamara Distin competes in the women’s high jump event.
Xiamen is the second leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels, Belgium on September 4 and 5.
