Shericka Jackson dominates 200 meters at Diamond League meeting in Zurich
World champion Shericka Jackson dominated the women’s 200 meters this afternoon at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.
Jackson sped to victory in 21.82 seconds to finish way ahead of Britain’s Daryll Neita 22.25 and Kayla white of the USA 22.33 seconds
Dannielle Williams topped the field in the Women’s 100 meters hurdles…………the World Champion after a brilliant start posted 12.54 seconds, with Olympic bronze medallist Megan Tapper 5th in 12.64 seconds
Two times Olympic sprint double gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah produced a podium finishing return to the Diamond League Circuit in the women’s 100 meters event.
She took 3rd place in the event in 11 seconds flat……… the same time credited to compatriot Natasha Morrison who placed second behind world champion Shacarrie Richardson of the USA who clocked 10.88 seconds.
Sashalee Forbes had to settle for 5th in 11.12 seconds
World Championship[s finalist Shanieka Rickettes was also a second place finisher in the women’s triple jump.
Her best effort of 14.78 meters saw her finishing behind world champion Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela who won with a best effort of 15.15 meters.
Kimberley Williams had just two jumps where she covered 13.55 metres with her opening effort.
In the men’s long jump Tajay Gayle grabbed second at 8.07 meters after World Champion Miltiadis Tentoglou with a massive final jump of 8.20 overtook Gayle to win the event……….. Carey Mcleod quit after three jumps ………for 9th place at 7.60 metres.
National record holder Adelle Tracey took 3rd place in the women’s 800 meters clocking 1-minute-59.05 seconds, with Natoya Goule who led for most of the race dropping to 9th in 2-minutes-00.10 seconds.
