Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce gets Keys to the City and donates US$50,000 to her Alama mater
Multiple Olympic and World Championships gold medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, made a heartwarming gesture of support for education and student development this morning. In a ceremony held at Wolmer’s High Auditorium, She handed over a generous cheque valued at US $50,000 to her alma mater, Wolmer’s Girls’ School.

This donation, aimed at bolstering the institution’s commitment to nurturing young minds, underscores Fraser-Pryce’s deep connection to the school that played a pivotal role in shaping her successful journey as one of the world’s greatest athletes.
During the ceremony, Fraser-Pryce was also honored with the prestigious Keys to the City of Kingston. This marks the second time she has received this symbolic honor. In a touching moment, the Mayor of Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, Andrew Swaby, spoke of the significance of this presentation, emphasizing that it was far more than just a symbolic gesture.
Mayor Swaby highlighted that the presentation of the keys is a celebration of Fraser-Pryce’s continued contributions to the city and her role as an inspiration to both current and future generations.
This honor is not new to Fraser-Pryce. Back in 2008, she was among several Jamaican athletes, including Usain Bolt and Veronica Campbell-Brown, who were bestowed with the Keys to the City of Kingston by former Mayor Desmond McKenzie.
