Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson among 10 nominees for 2022 World Athlete of the year
World Champions Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson are among the 10 nominees announced today by World Athletics for the 2022 World Athlete of the year
Fraser Pryce who ran a World leading 10.62 seconds among her record seven sub-10.70 100m races of the season, was also crowned Diamond league 100 metres champion while landing the 100 metres World Championship gold medal for a 5th time.
Jackson, who produced a World-leading 21.45 seconds over 200 meters to move to second on the World all-time list also captured the Diamond League 200 meters crown.
The two Jamaicans are joined on the list of nominees by world record holder in the women’s 100 meter hurdles Tobi Amusan of Nigeria, American World Shot Putt champion Chase Ealy, Kimberly Garcia of Peru…….the World 20km race walk champion, World 1500 meters champion Faith Kipyegon of Kenya and World Indoor high jump champion and world high jump silver medallist Yaroslava Mahuchikh of the Ukraine.
The nominees are completed by American world 400 meter hurdles record holder Sydney Mclaughlin, world 400 meters champion Shaunae Miller-uibo and World Indoor and Outdoor triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela.
A three-way voting process will determine the finalists.
The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics family will cast their votes by email, while fans can vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms.
