Shanice Beckford is the latest Jamaican to feature in 2024 Suncorp Super Netball League
The number of Jamaicans who will be plying their trade in the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia has increased from six to seven.
This with goal-attack Shanice Beckford inking a contract with the Perth-based west coast fever….the team of five-time league MVP Jhaniele fowler……and where she will also play alongside another new signing…..Kadie-Ann Dehaney who spent the last two seasons with the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
Beckford at the local level is three-time Berger Elite League champion and former league MVP and was part of the Sunshine Girls team that won bronze at the netball World Cup in South Africa in August.
The 28 year old has previous experience playing overseas from her time in the Vitality Netball Super League in England after being signed by team Northumbria in 2015.
The 2024 Suncorp Super Netball league campaign in the meantime is scheduled to get underway on April 13 and will see the trio of Beckford, Dehaney and Fowler taking centre-court in the season opener against a Giants Netball team that will feature Sunshine Girls teammate Jodi-Ann Ward.
The second game on the day sees player of the season Shamera Sterling and defender Latanya Wilson suiting up for defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds who begin their title defense against the visiting Queensland Firebirds.
