Shaneika Ricketts among four Jamaicans for Monaco Diamond League

Two times World Championship silver medalist Shaneika Ricketts and the newly minted national 400 meters hurdles champion, Malik James King, are among four Jamaicans down to compete at the Monaco Wanda Diamond League meet on July 12. 

Ricketts, who won her sixth national title nearly two weeks ago, holds a season best 14.58 meters heading into the Women’s Triple Jump event and lies joint second in the Diamond League standings on 13 points with Thea Lafond of Dominica.

James-King who holds a season best 47.42 seconds in his pet event – the men’s 400 meters hurdles, finished third at the Paris Diamond League recently. 

He is down to face a quality field that features world record holder and Olympic Champion Karsten Warholm of Norway, World Championship gold medalist Allison Dos Santos of Brazil, along with Americans Rai Benjamin and CJ Allen.

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Games champion Rasheed Broadbell will face the American pair of Grant Holloway and Trey Cunningham in the men’s 110 hurdles event, while the other Jamaican Andrew Hudson matches stride with Letsile Tebogo of Botswana in the men’s 200 meters. 

Although no  Jamaican has been listed to run, the women’s 100m is of high quality, where the 60m world leader Julien Alfred of St Lucia, faces Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, Marie Josee Ta-Lou-Smith of the Ivory Coast , and the American trio of Tamari Davis, Tamara Clark and Aleia Hobbs.
