Shamera Sterling-Humphrey named as one of two captains for the Adelaide Thunderbirds
Sunshine Girl and world class defender Shamera Sterling-Humphrey has been named as one of two captains for the Adelaide Thunderbirds to lead the club for the first time, ahead of the tip off in the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia later this month.
The other captain is the Australian Georgie Horjus, who will enter her seventh season with her home club, while the Jamaican Sterling-Humphrey will play in her eight season with the Thunderbirds.
Jamaican international Sterling-Humphrey who joined the Thunderbirds in 2019 and captained the Jamaican national team in December 2024, when the Sunshine Girls beat South Africa 3-nil in their last test series at home , is also among four athletes named in the Thunderbirds leadership group for the upcoming season.
The thundersbirds will open their season on march 14 against the NSW Swifts at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
