Shamar and Alzarri Joseph make big gains on ICC Test Rankings after Australia series
West Indies fast bowlers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph have reaped the rewards of their standout performances in the recently concluded three-Test series against Australia, making significant strides in the latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings.
The Guyana-born Shamar Joseph emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series, finishing with an impressive 22 wickets, including a fiery 4 for 34 in the second innings at Sabina Park. His consistency and impact have seen him surge 15 spots to 14th in the global rankings — his highest career position to date.
His namesake, Alzarri Joseph, also made his presence felt. The Antiguan pacer delivered a career-best 5 for 27 in the third Test, ending the series with 13 wickets — joint fourth overall alongside teammate Jayden Seales. The 28 year old Joseph has moved up two spots to 29th in the rankings, continuing his steady rise as a mainstay in the West Indies bowling attack.
Justin Greaves, who finished with 9 wickets, tied for fifth overall, also saw a notable rise. The all-rounder jumped 15 places to 65th, further highlighting the emergence of a new generation of Caribbean talent on the world stage.
Boland Rockets to Sixth, Starc Inches Closer
Australia’s Scott Boland delivered a show-stopping performance of his own, grabbing a hat-trick and a six-wicket haul in the third Test. His dominance has been rewarded with a career-high 6th place in the ICC Test bowling rankings. Boland now has 62 Test wickets at an astonishing average of 16.53, placing him among elite company — only George Lohmann and Sydney Barnes, both from over a century ago, boast better averages.
Despite no movement in the standings, Mitchell Starc remains a serious force. His relentless efforts saw him gain ground, now sitting at 766 rating points, just one behind Marco Jansen in ninth.

Australia now boasts five bowlers in the ICC Top 10:

Lyon moved down one place to make room for Boland following team changes in the third Test.
Joe Root Returns to the Summit
Over in England, Joe Root has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s Test batting rankings after inspiring England to a 22-run victory over India at Lord’s. The 34-year-old scored 104 and 40, reclaiming top position from teammate Harry Brook. This marks Root’s eighth stint as the world’s leading Test batter. He is also the oldest No.1-ranked batter since Kumar Sangakkara, who held the position at age 37 in 2014.
Among other moves, Steve Smith rose one spot in the top 10, while Cameron Green jumped an impressive 16 places to 29th, reflecting Australia’s strong all-around performance in recent months.
